The School Day
School opens at 8:50 am and closes at 3:15 pm every day. The schools office staff work between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30pm, therefore parents and visitors are advised to phone the school during these hours.
At St. Edmund’s we believe that it is vital to share children’s work with each other along with important information for the children. Therefore every Monday morning the school has a whole school assembly from 9:00 until 9:15 where the children are told about key details for the week. On a Friday morning the school host a good work assembly at 9:00. During this assembly children are rewarded with certificates, stickers and rewards for successes which they have achieved either in school or out of school. In addition to this children’s birthdays are celebrated.
The school host masses for the school community to attend. Masses are held every Tuesday morning starting at 9:30am. The lengths of the Masses are dependent on whether they are whole school or just on a class basis.
The Governing Body made decision that they would like all children to receive a morning snack of milk and fruit. This runs on a rolling programme beginning at 9:45 am for children in the Foundation Stage Unit through to Y6 at 10:45 am. Once the children have had their milk and fruit they have their break outside in the main playground.
The children in Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) have lunch time from 11:30 until 12.30pm, with children having three half an hour intervals. The children in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) have lunch time from 11:30 until 12:30pm. The children in Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) have lunch time from 12:00 until 1:00pm.
All children eat their lunch in the main dining hall.
