In Year 4 the children are set homework twice a week. Year 4 is the year where children prepare for moving into Upper Key Stage 2. We try to encourage the children to make it their own responsibility to do their homework rather than their parents or carers. Please support us in helping your child to increase their independence in doing their own learning.

Numeracy homework is given out on a Friday and handed in on Monday.

Literacy homework is given out on a Monday and handed in on a Thursday.

Spellings are given to the children on a Monday and tested on a Friday.

Reading is expected of your child each night of the week. Please encourage them to do this and sign their reading record when possible.

Times Tables By the end of Year 4 children are expected to know their times tables up to and including their 12 x 12. We also expect the children to know the division facts that correspond to their multiplications. Once a child has mastered these facts they soon find that other aspects of their Numeracy such as fractions become much easier to understand. We do a lot of practising of these times tables in class but it is important that children do these each night at home.

Children are reminded that it is not a problem to ask for help if they are struggling with their homework. Please encourage them to do this before the day of handing this in.
