Following on from Year 1 we continue to be passionate about reading in Year 2

Homework every night will be hearing your child read and signing the reading record book. As the children's reading skills increase, the homework becomes more focussed on understanding what they read. You can help by asking lot of questions about the book and encouraging your child to make predictions about what they think will happen next.

Spellings are based on the sounds we have been working on in phonics lessons, spelling patterns or words relating to our class topics. We give these out on Monday ready for a spelling test on Friday.

Numeracy homework is given out every Friday and is to be handed in on a Monday morning. This homework is to pratice skills taught in class that week. Pupils are also expected to use their Mathletics accounts which supports children with mental recall and arithmetic skills. It is another way of children consolidating their learning within Mathematics.

In the Spring term Year 2 will be given a Literacy based homework which will follow on from  the teaching of spelling, punctuation and grammar in school that week. This is due in on a Thursday. It is very important that the children complete all homework and bring it in on the due date.

If you have any questions just come and ask us.
